WHAT REMAINS OF THE BEGGERMAN…BEGGERMAN GHILLIE SUIT STARTER KIT…6:38 P.M. 6:38 A.M. BEG; fully dissembled Spring/Summer 2006 into current size, 10 3/4″x 10 1/8″x 1 1/4″ (closed), ink, black tape, newsprint & 28 1/4″x 29 1/2″x 1 1/4″ (open), newsprint, ink, yellow post-its, clear tape, cotton & nylon string, upholstery thread, wood block with paint, masking tape, brown tape, 100 MPH tape, color photocopy. Originally I happened upon a heavy wooden easel in a big trash dumpster…it was missing a couple of small parts. I salvaged it thinking I’d repair it and return it to the world of painters. It took up too much of my space so I dissembled it and stacked the heavy paint-stained wood parts, then propped it up in a corner…it stood there 80″x 12″x 4″ or so…hard quiet elongated figure…like a stretched out letter form that you can read if you try to but otherwise seems to disappear…this reminded me of a seemingly homeless man that I ocassionally saw in NYC that silently begged at the NJ Path Train stations between Christopher St. and 34th St…he wore a faded red puffy down jacket…every few weeks I’d see him and each time I’d see him he’d be thinner..the last time I saw him it looked like a jacket hovering empty without him…he had disappeared…I never got around to fixing the easel and I got used to it as the beggerman…I noticed on my digital clock that at 6:38, if you read it upside-down, it reads “Beg”…so, the beggerman begged in 12-hour shifts…6:38 a.m. to 6:38 p.m. and so on…I sturdied him up with a little tape and some string tieing…then 1 day I decided to let him go…so, I cut him loose, loaded him into my Corolla and took him back to his dumpster…and threw him in…and, so…this is what remains of the beggerman. One day, if I’m brave enough, I will put the wood block and tape cartridge in my belt and I will drape the rest over me and disappear.

WIRY SECTION; Spring 2004; box is 13 7/8″x 4 1/2″x 4 1/2″ and 12″x 4 1/2″ diameter is the other; box is a cut-down photo paper box with ink and clear & duct tape…the other is various wires, string, upholstery thread.

MORE PROUD AMERICANS IN OUR STRUGGLE TO PROTECT THE HOMELAND; ongoing, start date 2006…end date is when box is full and all figures are camouflaged; 12 3/4″x 8 1/2″x 3 1/2″; paper, ink, tape…inside a used (by me) powdered milk box is 1 whole & 1 partial in-flight magazine and catalogs (unrequested) that have come to my residence…all figures there-in are to be camouflaged, enlisted by me into the fight against terrorism…when complete the box and contents should be used as a recruiting tool.
